IDET:
Intradiscal Electrothermal Anuloplasty is a percutaneous procedure whereby a Spine-Cath, catheter is navigated around the painful disc level and heated to 90 degrees over a 17 minute cycle.
Our group has the most experience in Australia.
Caudal Epidurals:
This is a non-specific procedure for sciatica. Multiple levels can be treated and the injection is safe and well-tolerated.
Our group has performed > 10,000.
Transforaminal Epidural Steroid Injections:
This is a highly targeted injection at the specific nerve root that is compromised by the disc prolapse and causing radicular pain (sciatica). It has the highest efficacy of all forms of epidurals for this type of pain.
Our group has performed > 4,000.
Nucleoplasty:
Nucleoplasty Percutaneous Disc Decompression is the latest scientific advance in minimally invasive intra-disc needle intervention for the treatment of discogenic back pain as well as sciatica derived from contained disc protrusions. The procedure uses a thin catheter to create an accurate one-millimeter pathway into the disc. Normally, the entire procedure takes 20 to 30 minutes.
Nucleoplasty percutaneous disc decompression is designed to offer a fast-acting option when conservative therapies are leading nowhere, on the one hand, and a minimally-invasive alternative to open surgery, on the other.
Peripheral Nerve Stimulators:
Peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) treatment is an option for anyone with singular or multiple areas of relatively circumscribed neuropathic pain. The exact mechanism by which peripheral nerve stimulation works is unknown, but the main theory is that the electrical current and magnetic fields from the stimulator blocks the nociceptive (pain) fibres in the area from firing. Even a widespread area of pain can be generated from a relatively small area of nociceptive fibres.
Spinal Cord Stimulators:
Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) involves delivering a low voltage electrical impulse to the spinal cord to block the sensation of pain. It is a treatment generally reserved for severe intractable pain including lower back, pelvic and leg pains that have not responded to the usual conservative treatment.
Patient Fact Sheets:
To obtain a Patient Fact Sheet with comprehensive details about your condition or procedure that has been recommended, please ask your practitioner at Metro Spinal Clinic for a copy or visit the website: www.lowbackpain.tv to download freely available PDFs on the following:
- low back and leg pain
- headache and neck pain
- failed back surgery
If you would like more information about each of the procedures visit www.lowbackpain.tv to view full screen streamed video demonstrating ‘real procedures on real patients'.
Additional Patient Fact Sheets are also available as part of the package once a selection of a video has been made. These are available on the www.lowbackpain.tv website.
